Melbourne toddler's toes turned into fingers ...dubbed 'tingers' by her doctors.

A Melbourne toddler has undergone a remarkable operation to have two toes surgically reattached to her left hand which had lacked any functioning fingers.
Monash Medical Centre plastic surgeon Dr Guy Dowling, who performed the 10-hour operation with three surgical teams a week ago, explained the medical diffculties of delving into the unknown.

Born with symbrachydactyly, a condition characterised by extremely short and malformed fingers, Bridey’s left hand has no usable digits. A team of surgeons that included Guy Dowling and David Ying performed a marathon operation to remove her fingers, then take the second toe from each of her feet and transplant them on to her hand to create “tingers”, eventually giving her an opposable thumb and pinkie.
